*PHEW* I'm glad it's NOT a tribute to that (built)-button-mashing game, plus the game is static, and the base to base firing bug is not so well fixed.
Your animation on the other hand gives a very positive view on humanity almost bracing war out. But you scratched problems in debate with technological advancement when the self-confident cellphone-guy is surprised by the meteor that triggers another age of humility. So far it has been humanistic, but you aim at the end on trans-humanism leading to the twist.
I guess people like it for it's positive view on mankind in a time of humility and ecology and nature versus technology and progress.
I guess it fits at the brink of a new decade.

i know humanity can do it. we pulled ourselves out of the last Dark Age, we can pull ourselves out of the coming one, if the nukes fall.

It was wonderful and a nice piece of work, people now days on NG realize that games are getting rated too good and instead of voting lower and still appreciating them, they vote 5's and be totally...not as nice as they should be...critical.
Anyway I would like to point out that comet is much more likely and with the simulations we have run we have mines deep enough on both side of the planet to survive ANYTHING... even if the atmosphere ignites we can create a closed atmosphere underground.
So yeah good animation.

Sorry, but I doubt that. It takes a lot of energy to build up a civilisation. Energy that only fossile supplies can provide. Coal and oil are needed to create a heavy industry wich is able to develop clean technologies like photovoltaik.
If we loose it now, if we propell ourselves back to medieval level, we are lost for good. A few thousand years of feudalistic systems will exist and the whole time, we will slip back to being just a species beneath other species with natural predators and prey. Nothing like forming the surface of the planet as we wish. It will be am existence full of run away, hide and cower and dare to come out of the hideout for grabbing something to eat.
On the other side, there is still hope. I like to be a transhumanist. I am proud of humanity's ability to grow above itself. I hope, we manage to use this ability.
there will always be the people who remember the world before the apocalypse. They are the ones most likely to rebuild our infrastructure, and we will not be sent back to feudalism, but it will be.. "pre-industrial."
