Almost like video editing, only backwards or reverse engineered. In video, it's like roping a wild horse, then breaking it, taming it, washing it, brushing it down, clip it's hooves, shoe it... then you can sell the ornery bugger.

Pretty much. Most of the battle in animation is finding the best and most efficient technique that works for you. I learned the basics of Flash when I was 7, and I didn't discover this technique until last year, when I worked on EVolution ep1.
