    vezanmatics's News

    Posted by vezanmatics - January 26th, 2015

Just wanted you guys to know that I'm working on something both new and old, and that it's going to blow everyone away. It has a very positive transhumanist message.

Speaking of, what do you all think of transhumanism?

For those who haven't heard of it, it's basically the idea that we humans will direct our own evolution with technology and that it will be a major turning point in our history. Could even lead to transcendence of old human limitations, like death and being confined to one body, and it could happen in our lifetime! (You won't have to participate if you don't want to, more for the rest of us.)

ET Excursion plays with transhumanist themes a bit, but not as much as I like since the future continuity is overall pretty dark (cataclysm in the near future, humanity spends the next 1 million years trying to recover from it). It involves a slowed pace of technological advancement and arbitrary limitations place on how transhuman they're allowed be. I want to create an alternate continuity where none of this happens.

As for ETX, it's going through a bit of development hell right now but that's because the small Philadelphia studio I was working with couldn't really handle the pressure of developing an animated show and needed to focus on something that wouldn't bankrupt them before they finished. So, now the offer is being kicked around from studio to studio in LA. If another, better studio picks it up this might be a great thing, since it will be done faster and more efficiently. Fingers crossed!

I've also become much more active on Twitter as part of one of my New Year's resolutions to be more active on social media. FOLLOW ME, DO IT

After a year-and-a-half hiatus, E.T. Excursion has returned!

ANNOUNCEMENT: The future of ETX as a series looks bright! I have a golden opportunity to produce my IP into a full-fledged animated show that will subsequently be pitched to multiple networks. An actual, professional pilot is in the works as I type this!

Even if I don't proceed boldly into the world of HBO or whatever, I just want you all at Newgrounds to know that I've always enjoyed participating. The rush of submitting something new is just too good to pass up, and so I will continue to put a disproportionate amount of effort into animated shorts you'll only be able to enjoy for 7 minutes and submit them!

A big Thank You to Tom and the rest of the Newgrounds team for hosting such a great platform for creativity.

This is a short 45-second intro sequence I made for my senior project. I graduated art school as of 09/26/2014 and some big stuff is in the works.

Made using Flash, Maya, and Aftereffects. Enjoy!

That's right, all 538 of you.

I now actually pay attention to my twitter account.

    So, you know... follow it.

    Please?

Got inspired coming back from the beach after seeing an ugly, high-pollution industrial complex next to a quiet suburban neighborhood. This coupled with the NSA debacle and proposed intervention in Syria is enough to make an entire generation cynical. Trust neither the Dems nor the GOP, for both are on opposite sides of the same evil coin.

This is probably the first time I've ever made a political artwork.

2 weeks late for Robot Day, but it's pretty much finished. I hope you like it! ;)

The Robot Utopia texture pack brings the Minecraft world into the inevitable, far-flung post-post-apocalyptic future in which all squishy nature and life as we know it have long since been exterminated, and our glorious mechanical overlords have replaced it with their sleek, shiny artifice.

EDIT: Anyone wiling to help make custom robot/metallic sounds?

I love robots. A long time ago I made a robotic texture pack for Minecraft, but it's broken now due to the resource pack update. Maybe I'll spend today working on it!

I for one welcome the advent of our new robotic overlords! They'll probably do a better job of leading us than America's government, anyway.

    WHEW. Who else hates finals?

To any who care, sorry for being gone for so long. This quarter has just been really stressful, especially leading up to the finals.

Sadly, I haven't had any time to make progress in the way of a new ET Excursion project because the work load wouldn't permit.

However, I have learned some great new skills, mostly pertaining to Aftereffects, Nuke, and 3DSMax. This means the quality of my work will now probably increase about 3x.

I'll try to get some Flash work done over break!

Here's my final project for Intermediate Broadcast Graphics...

Here's my final film project for Directing and Producing class...

And here's the character I made for Hard Surface and Organic Modeling with a bit of speedy photoshop work.

Usually you only see these things that people write and they're all about me, me, me and my talents, me and my upcoming project.

How about you? What are your talents and accomplishments?

    Enjoy!

I hope it's been well worth the wait! It took a ton of effort on my part.

Here's a teaser for the next episode I drew up this afternoon! ;)

Submitted it this morning, 9 AM. I'll make a more complete post tonight.
