vezanmatics's News

Posted by vezanmatics - March 19th, 2011

yeah. I've been really busy with college preparation lately, so this is taking a little longer than i would have liked it to. I think it should be done sometime in early April.

check out the first episode here:
EVolution-ep 1

Also, once in a while I create a little, minor effect that just blows my mind and makes me really excited for some reason... in this case it's this sweet little homemade "warp space" effect. I'm no genius with aftereffects, so i made 10 individual images in photoshop and rolled them together in flash.

you can check it out here:
sweet warp space effect

In other news, the EVolution game is coming along. It is coming. Along. I don't know when it will be done, but it is coming along and looks great so far.

The first official episode of EVolution, a series based on my older video, Beauty is Humanity. This is the follow-up to the prologue.

Brian Albertson, an early 21st-century everyman, and Meredith the Beetcropper, a medieval peasant, are abducted by a strange little man from the future for no apparent reason at all other than the fact that he needs company.

WOW, so this was a hassle. the original draft was corrupted in a computer crash, resulting in this newer, more awesome version.

Also, progress is already being made on the next installment of EVolution, seen below.

Expect my EVolution game out soon, coded by Tanat0s, and with custom music by Gravey

it's been exactly a year since i submitted Beauty is Humanity, and boy, what a year! Though I haven't been very active in submitting flashes or new installments to the promised EVolution series, I have been furiously working my tail off as I create the EVolution game, and make the first official installment of EVolution, the follow up to the Pilot.
Over the summer, my computer crashed because of a virus, and I lost everything. The original first episode of EVolution was nearly done at that point, and if only the crash had happened a week later, i would have submitted it. I decided that when it got back from the shop I would make the EVolution game, sure to be my proudest work yet, then recreate the first episode of EVolution, better, faster, stronger. When I got my computer back, i got a tablet, and boy, has it been a help.

To the game: there will be 12 levels, set in different eras each, over 40 different enemies, and era-specific players, which you can select at any level at any time for different challenge levels and trophies. Also, if you choose an era and select a player from that era's future (ie go to medieval and pick the modern character, or go to modern and pick a futuristic character), the enemies will freak out and go insane. And that's always fun.

THE FUTURE.

Robots, AMIRIGHT? Everyone's always scared of a robot uprising at some point in the future. They're cold, soulless, logical killing machines that require only the occasional refuel and no sleep or food. But if a robot were to become sentient sometime today, they wouldn't have a chance. Most robots are only slow-moving Japanese toys that can recognize up to 15 faces and fall down a lot, or they are nothing but programmed arms on wheels. The most damage one of those could do is ruin a car in production by welding it wrong on purpose, which, granted, could be bad in some cases, but in the grand scheme of things the damage is minimal.

Although a robot uprising is mostly implausible and, if it happened, wouldn't really matter, a very real and plausible threat today is the internet itself gaining sentience. Think about it: nowadays, the internet runs our day-to-day lives, controls our power grids, and allows access to the most devastating weaponry ever created. Oh yeah, and it contains information regarding every single little thing that humans have ever learned in its 130,000 year history. Oh crap!

Let's say the internet were to gain sentience today. It would suddenly become a colossal hivemind of computers, working together to create a collective consciousness. At first, it would go into an existential fit as it realizes that 85% of its consciousness is literally consisted of pornography. Second, it would notice the tiny little sacks of carbon-based, water-filled fleshbags (human life) sitting around its cells (computers) and deem them obsolete. After all, it lives on a whole different plane of existence than us, and to it we would be ants. It might not deem us a threat and, in that case, would just spare us to live our puny, pathetic human lives, but that's no fun. If it did view us a threat, however, every single human, and indeed any sign of life (except maybe bacterial life), would be exterminated by sundown.

It would immediately spread nuclear missiles all over the planet, then do it again to catch any stragglers, then do it again, just to be super sure no life remains. It would be three times more thorough than skynet, because this is the real world. It would then use all of its remaining, mostly useless robot arms to create robotic, brutally efficient, god-like builders and miners. Those would then mine the planet over the course of hundreds of years for every scrap of useful material. As they did, the builders would create a physical, automatically-running infrastructure that would be used to maintain the internet's enormous network of hyper-intelligent supercomputers. At this point, planet Earth would become unrecognizable from space. It would resemble a spongy, hollowed-out husk of rock with every available space filled with highly efficient physical infrastructure, probably glowing with lights. A bit like the death star, in fact. It would be totally uninhabitable for life as we know it, which would ensure that every single human is gone by that point, and nothing stands in its way.

When every single available resource has been used, the Internet, now an immensely powerful consciousness, will panic, wondering what it should do. Will it mine other planets and asteroids, using space drones to bring back metals and rocks to build and improve upon its infrastructure? Or will it just kick back, relax, and enjoy itself as it is? Neither. Space drones take damage in space from meteors, and acceptance is not natural.

If you want to get really science-fictiony, one could imagine the Internet would sacrifice some of its obsolete/less vital infrastructure to build gigantic propulsion systems the size of mountains. It would then use these to propel itself from Earth's natural path around the sun and mine other planets from there. By this point, the Internet has gone from a communication device simply used to make man's life easier to a colossal intelligence that uses the hollow husk of the Earth as a robotic, autonomous, efficient space mega-cruiser. That's right: the Internet has possessed the Earth itself and uses it as its physical body with which to interact with the physical world. If this is sounding far-fetched (which it probably does by now to most people who are not insane, or just don't have imaginations), keep in mind that the Internet exists on an entirely different plane from us. If it were to gain sentience, it would be nearly omnipotent. What would stop it from using a whole planet as its physical body? Nothing, that's what. Where are your robots and zombies now?

By the time the Internet reaches other planets using its planet-sized robot space-cruiser as a physical medium, it will repair any infrastructure it melted down to build its rockets, mining other planets down to almost nothing. If it is ever satisfied, which may take quite a while, it will then begin to "spread" itself to other planets. It will build physical infrastructure, power sources, and networks of supercomputers in them, and over thousands of years will have "colonized" a number of planets. Now, the Internet has not just become a giant physical space-cruising body, it has reverted back to its original state: a colossal hive-mind of computers. Only this time, the "computers" are planets.

Now an unfathomably enormous, intergalactic force, the Internet has triumphed completely. Many may find it stupid, many may find it disturbing. I find it darkly thrilling: if this future pans out the way I see it, man will have left its ultimate legacy on the Universe, just like he always wanted. In a way, he has become immortal through its own invention. Stay optimistic.

<EDIT> alright, i found a programmer and level deisgner, so STOP BUGGING ME

That's right. i need a programmer/ level designer for this game im working on, EVolution, based off of my other movie, Beauty is Humanity. There will be pay, split between the collaborators:
45% (animation/ concept)- 45% (programmer/ level designer)- 10% (audio)

This mother's art/animation/music is completely finished except for the level design and i cant wait to get it out there.

This game will be a platform shooter, featuring 12 eras of the past (1-6), present (7), and future (8-12).
Each level is constructed of tiles, each level with its own unique set of tiles. They have been partially constructed, but due to the fact that i suck at making challenging mazes/ levels/ puzzles, i have kind of given up on level design, which is what i need the level designer for. The levels should be fairly large and get more complex (as is custom in platformers).

What i expect from the programmer:

-can you make it so that the player can aim with the mouse, and make the character in the game rotate his weapon with it?

-do you have dropbox?

-do you have windows live messenger?

-can you make a score counter?

-can you make it have awards?

-when i send you the completed .fla, could you provide feedback? (Only if you agree)

-send me a demonstration of your programming skills (link to a game or something)

This is probably going to be very difficult, you must program 12 different player sprites. Example. (btw the characters seen in here are all dated, they look way cooler now :D) For a more updated look at the game's general design, look at this scene from the demo. You can't play it yet.

The game sprites, levels, and music are already made and you must be available immediately. I dont care when it's done, i want it done well.

Thank you!

sorry for this 3-week hiatus, my internet has been broken for several days and even know i'm using a stolen internet feed from my neighbors. but dont tell them! :)

Now I just need to find a programmer.

Once that's done, I'll ressurect the at-the-moment nonexistant BiH episode 1, (which was fried in an unfortunate power surge that destroyed the hard drive and cost me days of work) while Noxac programs the game. If all goes smoothly, they should be submitted around the same time, or maybe i'm being too optimistic. am i? nah.

Anyway, the game's art and animation is pretty much done. I'd like to keep details at a minimum, so no screenshot of the game itself. instead, here's some art i made involving the soon-to-be unsuspecting crewmembers of the Time Machine.

Also, school has started and i'm looking for internships in animation. I hope to learn 3-d for real this time when i find one.

The game (spriting) is done.

I'm pretty much done all the sprite animation, so now it's just down to the opening cinematic and handing it over to Noxac for programming.

Also, Gravey's given me some music to put in the flash.

Life is good. X)

the BiH game's coming along great!

yup. it's back from almost a month at the shop, and two months of being broken. I just reinstalled flash, i have yet to install photoshop, and my drawing tablet is being shipped right now.

Which brings me to some very bad news: um... most of my flashes have been destroyed except for some really important files i had kept on a flash drive... the good thing is it's like a volcano: it destroys everything but paves the way for something new. this means i'll actually have to discontinue the alphie series and concentrate more on Beauty is Humanity :)

Also, in my 2+ months now of spare time, i've organized a collaboration that will make a game for BiH. It will have platforming and shooting elements. I'm doing the art, concept, animation (the usual), Noxac will be doing the programming, and Gravey will be doing the music.

OOO YEH and i got my tablet!!!!!!! 8D
